“I never could have reached this point in math without the teachers at Oakwood. I am being pushed to my limit and learning amazing things! The teachers here are supportive, and the small class sizes at Oakwood provide me with the attention and help that I need when I have difficulty answering a hard problem. I know this isn’t the case at other schools. I am thankful for the opportunity that Oakwood has given me, and I look forward to how much I grow in the future.”
A favorite memory of my past year at Oakwood was the elective, Armor Making and Stage Combat, taught by Ms. Blanchard. It was so much fun and I never knew that it existed. The class was very exciting since I love building my own objects. In this class, I was able to create pieces of armor to use, and make swords to fight with. This memory made a positive impact on me since it showed me that school is not all about strict academics, but also about having fun and learning from it.”

“My time at Oakwood gave me so many valuable experiences that shaped me into the person I am today. The knowledge and skills that I gained continue to benefit me every day. My involvement in the Interact club instilled my love for service and giving back, which will remain a lifelong passion. This translated into my college life through me joining Rotaract, a service-based club which is an extension of Interact and Rotary. Not a day goes by where I am not reminded of how much Oakwood supported and encouraged me to lean into my full potential. I have carried these values throughout college and know that they will stick with me forever.”
"Looking back at my time at Oakwood, I'm grateful for the foundation it provided me. In my current internships, I often find myself using the time management skills I developed while balancing classes and extracurricular activities. The way my teachers encouraged me to think deeply about problems, rather than just finding quick answers, has been especially helpful when tackling new challenges at work. Fundraising Dollars at Work
The Annual Fund is the heart of every independent school's philanthropic efforts in which every family is asked to provide an annual donation to the school. Our goal is to achieve 100% participation from our current families, faculty, staff, and board. Donations made through the Annual Fund may be designated by the donor to go to any one of the below funds. Proceeds from school fundraising events go to one or more of the five funds.
Greatest Need
Most donations are given "unrestricted" for the school's greatest needs, meaning the donation will go toward one or more of the five funds, depending on needs that arise each school year.
Campus Fund
Supports upgrades to our campus and safety. The 2023-2024 Campus Fund helped fund upgraded security camera systems, gate & entry systems across campus, bike racks, new roofing, parking lot resurfacing, and an outdoor portable sound system.
Scholarship Fund
Helps us build our fund to enhance the socio-economic diversity of our community. The 2023-2024 Scholarship Fund helped give deserving students access to an Oakwood education.
Enrichment Fund
Used to enhance the school's enrichment programs. The 2023-2024 Enrichment Fund helped purchase PE & playground equipment, music instruments & equipment, and microphones for performing arts use.
Science & Technology Fund
Strengthens and expands the school's technology and science resources. The 2023-2024 Science & Technology Fund helped purchase a milling machine for Engineering classes, student laptops & iPads, and cameras & equipment for Yearbook and Photography.
Faculty Fund
Supports faculty development and enhances compensation. The 2023-2024 Faculty Fund helped provide special guest speakers for faculty and staff, and funded educational & professional development conferences.

Vic and Carolyn Riches have left a lasting legacy at Oakwood School, built on their profound commitment to education, community, and opportunity. Over the years, their unwavering support helped shape Oakwood’s vision, allowing our school to flourish. Vic and Carolyn loved attending Oakwood events near and far, cheering on their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all of our Hawks with heartfelt enthusiasm. Field Update
The permitting process for our field project has proven to be more complex and time-consuming than initially expected. Thanks to the incredible support of previous Annual Fund, Auction, and Fund Run campaigns, this exciting update to our campus will soon be a reality. These contributions are helping to cover key components such as design, permitting, plan fees, soil testing, turf, underlayment, and more.
The project, managed by the trusted teams at Kent Construction and Verde Design, has faced unexpected delays, but we remain optimistic in our commitment to delivering a fantastic new field for our community. Thank you for your continued patience and support as we bring this vision to life!

On Friday, March 29, 2024, Oakwood School warmly welcomed over 500 cherished grandparents and special friends who traveled from both near and far to join us! Our guests enjoyed performances by students from preschool through 5th grade in the Athletic Center, embarked on guided campus tours, indulged in fun-filled photo opportunities, savored delicious treats and coffee, and much more!

Unlike many private schools, Oakwood does not ask donors to pay for the base operation of the school. Donated funds are used exclusively to enhance and grow the school and its programs through the five Annual Fund designations. As a non-profit corporation, there are no profits or dividends for shareholders or owners. When school revenue exceeds expenses, these funds are reinvested in the school.
